Integration, Cultural Understanding & Building Community Relationships

Creating Connection, Understanding and Belonging

Northern Ireland is becoming increasingly diverse — and HAPANI plays a vital role in building the relationships, understanding and solidarity needed for shared, peaceful communities.
HAPANI Stories

“We realised we had the same worries as mothers.”

During a community connection workshop, women from the Shankill, Falls, Palestine, Yemen, Eritrea and Syria shared stories about childcare, safety, loneliness and family. By the second session, women were exchanging recipes, swapping phone numbers and planning to meet outside the programme. One participant said: “I thought we were very different, but I see now we’re the same.”
